ONDŘEJ VOSTATEK TAKES MORE POINTS IN THE TALENT CUP AND CHANGES TEAM IN THE CEV

26. 9. 2017
After the summer break, on the weekend of 16-17 September 2017, together with his fellow riders, Ondřej Vostatek returned to racing in the FIM CEV Repsol Junior World Championship Series to follow up on his previous successes. After scoring points in rainy Albacete, a fantastic 8th place in Barcelona, a pursuit race from 24th to 8th place in Valencia and further points in windy Estoril, he earned more points in Jerez and is one of three riders who have taken away points from every race.

Ondřej performed well in the opening training session, where he was among the top five fastest riders. On Friday, he went even faster and began to have problems with his rear tyre, which only worked well for 10 laps. The tyre had to be saved in order to last through both qualifying and the race. Ondřej started qualifying at 9 a.m. in temperatures of 13 degrees, where the settings of his bike and tyre lasted only 6 laps. Ondřej therefore finished the qualifying session with a torn tyre in 17th place. Changes were made to the bike's settings for the second qualifying session, and Ondřej rode with the torn tyre to test whether the new settings would do the trick. After 10 minutes, it was clear that they had made a step in the right direction and the tyre was ultimately changed. Although Ondřej was not left with much time for improvement, in the second qualifying session he moved up to 14th place.

Ondřej started well in both races, though in the first he lost a few places after the first bend. He gradually fought his way back and rode in a group for the whole race, where he battled his way to 10th place. On the last lap however, he came into contact with a rival racer, preventing him from fighting for 10th place in the dying stages. As a result, he finished 13th in the first race and 14th in the second.

Jan Vostatek spoke after the race:

"It was definitely a great racing weekend for Ondřej. He battled, raced, overtook, and fought elbow to elbow. It is good that he has been able to reach the finish line in every race so far, and above all, to pick up points".

"Unfortunately, we are not very happy with the results in the Spanish CEV championship. Therefore, during the break from racing, we held long discussions with the team ETG Racing on ways to improve the situation, but unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement. We are very sorry, but we have to move forwards, and for the remaining two races in the Pre-moto3 category, we will be racing with the IgaX team, who we will be representing for the first time on the Albacete circuit on the last weekend in September. Lastly, I would like to thank our sponsors PSí HUBÍK, COMPOS DISTRIBUTION s.r.o., Network Support s.r.o., the Auto Club of the Czech Republic and other partners and fans for their faith and for keeping their fingers crossed for us on our long and often trying journey. Thank you very much"! added Jan Vostatek in conclusion.
