ONDŘEJ VOSTATEK ENDS IN THE TALLENT CUP TOP TEN!
Barcelona was dominated by very hot weather throughout the event and the air temperature on the track was above 50°C. Ondřej raced for the second time in his life on this track and immediately ranked among the best world juniors with his lap times during training and qualification. In the first qualification race, he recorded the fifth best time, which he also confirmed in the second qualifying race. In the final analysis, the result was sixth position and a start from the second row.
In Sunday's warm-up, our rider's motorcycle was unfortunately seriously damaged during a simulated start when one of the competitors ran into Ondřej from the rear. Fortunately, our rider was not injured in this incident. It was 2 hours to the start of the race and due to heavy damage to the exhaust, rear wheel and other chassis parts, it was not clear whether our rider would start in the race at all. After strenuous work on the part of the entire team, the motorcycle was successfully repaired and Ondřej started the race.
Ondřej began the race excellently and moved forward from the second row. He ran out of the first bend in third position. The leading group of riders continuously changed positions and our rider held his own in fourth to eighth position. After five laps, the group spread out and Ondřej made several attempts to attack fifth position. After this, however, he slowly started losing ground. Toward the end of the race, two riders caught up with him and eventually pushed him into a final eighth position. The cause of his loss of speed was a loss of grip on the rear wheel, thanks to which our rider could no longer continue battling for the best position.
After the competition, Jan Vostatek said:
"In the initial training, our team perfectly prepared the motorcycle, which greatly suited Ondřej and resulted in fifth position in the qualification. In such competition, we did not even expect such a result this year. In the end, one more rider passed our rider, but it was still the second row and an opportunity to battle for a position on the podium. Running with the best riders, who include riders from the Redbull Rookies Cup, is excellent experience for us. In any case, what is important for us is the fact that if we have equivalent equipment, we are capable of winning good points and battling for the podium. We still need to add a bit more experience, but Ondřej has made it clear to all that they must count with him.
