ONDŘEJ VOSTATEK DID NOT WIN POINTS IN BARCELONA

1. 6. 2017
Over the weekend of 27 – 28 May 2017, the second race of the Spanish CEV Championship took place in Barcelona, where talented Czech rider Ondřej Vostatek started again in the Pre-moto3 category. On this technically highly complicated track on which he rode for the first time in his life, he made an effort to win additional points.

The free training sessions started already on Thursday, when Ondřej had to get acquainted with the new track and started searching for the best motorcycle settings together with the team. The first cue was the initial data from last year and the pole position lap time of 2:00 minutes. However, it was revealed that the best riders had time that was two and half seconds better than last year's time. In the qualification, Ondra was eighteenth and after evaluation of the situation and results, the team decided not to use last year's data and find new settings for Ondra. The motorcycle settings for the first race were somewhat a compromise with the objective to make a better lap time and at the same time enable Ondra to enter the race.

In the first race, Ondra started excellently and got a few positions ahead. After this, there was a huge battle in the group of seven riders for every metre and position. The positions of all riders kept changing throughout the race and the battle lasted until the end of the race. In the end, our rider lost the battle for fifteenth position by 3 hundredths of a second and ended sixteenth. But he was able to get a better lap time by 1.5 seconds, which proved that the team had taken the right direction and the motorcycle settings were further improved for the second race.

In the second race, Ondřej also made a good start and got into the group of riders battling for thirteenth position. The battle again lasted until the very end of the race. In the last but one lap, Ondřej headed the complete group in thirteenth position, but over the last few metres, his opponents took advantage of the slip stream and overtook him at the finish line, pushing him to nineteenth position. However, he again improved his lap time by more than one second and showed great progress during a single weekend, which he shall be able to take advantage of in other races of the championship, this time on the Alcaras race track.

After the races, Jan Vostatek said:

"This weekend was a great mystery for us. It was our first race here, and it is a pity that we did not have more time to comprehend the profile of this exquisite track and find a better motorcycle setting. Although we did not win any points, Ondra did great work and the entire team demonstrated enormous will and effort. So I evaluate this weekend positively. Ondra was capable of attacking the best time of last year's No. 1 team and as a newcomer he was one second from last year's pole position lap time. At the age of twelve, this is very promising and it is obvious that he improves each time he gets on the track and he is a priority for us this season. We extend huge thanks to all our sponsors and partners who support us. Thank you very much," said Jan Vostatek in closing.
